Our Spring and Agile Story

We started with Spring even before there was a Spring, so to speak.  We, O&B's founders, began our first experience with the ideas behind Spring by reading Rod Johnson's books, "Expert One-on-One J2EE Design and Development", and of course the seminal "Expert One-on-One J2EE Development without EJB".

We organized sessions in our Java User Group specifically to discuss the ideas in these books, and we began to apply them in our work. We were then working as developers and architects in various companies.

When Spring came out, we of course became early adopters.   We advocated the technology strongly in our respective organizations, often against stiff resistance.

You can say Orange & Bronze is a product of Spring and Agile.  Both were things we all advocated strongly for in our respective companies, and had trouble getting our advocacy to take hold.  Our frustration led us to start our own company, centered around domain-driven, object-oriented technologies, and pragmatic software development processes.

We have been early adapters (and early experts) in the various Spring technologies as they came out... Acegi (now Spring Security)... Spring AOP... Annotations... Spring Batch.  We had yelling arguments in the halls about setter injection versus constructor injection.  Yes, we've been through that all.  We even dabbled in the heresy of trying out S**m!

We're now the authority in our country in the Spring Framework.  Software teams from the top companies in the country go through our Spring training courses.  We also provide coaching and hand-holding for companies implementing Spring, and of course software development projects on Spring that require our heavy-lifting.
